What Is Lifed? The Story Behind a New Way to Live Well

Lifed is a global platform to book and host curated, real-world wellbeing programs. Here is the story of why it exists, how it works, and who it is for.

What is Lifed, in one paragraph

Lifed is a platform to book and host curated, real-world wellbeing programs, across wellness, functional movement, and recovery. Some are residential stays, with food and a place to rest. Others are local sessions and workshops with no stay. Every program is co-created with the expert or space that hosts it, then vetted by the Lifed team, so what you find is shaped for Lifed rather than simply relisted from elsewhere. Lifed is non-clinical and proactive. It helps you care for yourself before things break, not only after. Live Well. For Real.

That is the short version. The longer one starts with a question.

The question at the heart of Lifed

Lifed began at JIPMER in Pondicherry, with a question its founders could not put down. Why do we only help people after they break?

If you look closely, most of modern care is built to react. It steps in once something has already gone wrong, once the exhaustion has become a diagnosis, once the stress has become a symptom. That care matters, and it saves lives. But the kind of wellbeing that keeps a person well in the first place, the everyday, ordinary, human kind, is left scattered and hard to trust. There is no obvious place to go until you are already struggling.

Lifed exists to change that order. To make living well something proactive, real, and within reach. And to give the people who quietly help others live well, the practitioners, centres, and communities, a place to finally be found.

What feels broken right now

You probably recognise the problem, because most people live inside it.

Help arrives too late, and in too many pieces. When you feel drained or off or stuck, the honest first question is usually not "what is wrong with me," it is "where do I even start, and who can I trust?" So you juggle apps, advice, and good intentions, and still end up unsure. Meanwhile, some of the best practitioners and spaces stay invisible, seasonal, and hard to book reliably. The support exists. It is just fragmented, reactive, and hard to reach.

Lifed is built to answer that in one place. You do not have to wait until you break, and you do not have to piece it together yourself.

What Lifed actually is

Lifed brings real-world wellbeing into one trusted place, built around three simple pillars.

Wellness covers the practices that help you feel restored and clear, from Ayurveda and lifestyle resets to breathwork, sound baths, meditation, creative wellness, and nature immersion like forest bathing.

Functional movement covers the ways of moving that make daily life feel better, from traditional schools like Kalaripayattu and Tai Chi to posture and mobility work, dance and rhythm, and outdoor movement.

Recovery covers real rest and repair, from digital detox and sleep rituals to burnout recovery, sensory recovery, and slow living.

Across those pillars, there are two ways to take part. Some programs are residential stays, where you step away for a while with expert guidance, food, and a place to rest. Others are local sessions and workshops with a clear purpose and no stay, the kind that fit into an ordinary week. What ties them together is that every program is curated. It is co-created with its host and shaped for Lifed, not aggregated from what already exists. That is the difference between a curated program and a listing, and it is the reason people can trust what they step into.

How Lifed works for you

The path is meant to be simple, and you stay the one in charge of it.

First you find a program, by searching or browsing. If you would like help choosing, there is an optional guide, more on that below, but it is never a step you have to take.

Then you book, choosing your dates or slots and paying securely.

Then you experience the real thing, in person, led by a real host, whether that is a weekend stay or an hour-long session near you.

Over time, as this rolls out, Lifed is also building a way to gently reflect how you are doing across your programs, so wellbeing becomes something you can feel moving in the right direction, not just a number on a screen.

The people who make it real: Healthmates

Lifed is not a shelf of content. It is a living network of real people and places, and those hosts are called Healthmates.

Healthmates are the centres, practitioners, communities, and organisers who hold genuine wellbeing expertise. They are partners, not vendors. Lifed verifies them, co-creates their programs with them so they remain the expert while the program is shaped to a shared standard, and gives them the tools to list, manage bookings, and build a sustainable business across the whole year, not just in seasonal peaks. Curation protects their reputation, and honest reviews build it.

If you guide others toward living well, this is a place to be found by the people you can genuinely help. You can start on the become a Healthmate page.

A quieter kind of help with choosing

Some people know exactly what they want to book. Others would like a little help. For them, Lifed offers LEWIS.

LEWIS is Lifed's wellbeing intelligence. It gently reflects your wellbeing across nine everyday dimensions, from physical and emotional to energy, relationships, and meaning, and uses that to point you toward a program that fits, with a clear reason why. It is optional and non-clinical. It does not diagnose, it is never the front door, and it is never required to use Lifed. Think of it as a thoughtful guide for choosing, not the point of the whole thing. The point is the real program you step into.

What makes Lifed different

It helps to be clear about what Lifed is, by being clear about what it is not.

It is not an app to scroll. The real value happens in person, in a room, on a mat, in a forest, with other people. The app is the doorway, not the destination.

It is not a directory. Lifed co-creates and vets each program, rather than only listing what already exists.

It is not reactive. Lifed is built for the time before things break, not only the moment after.

And it is not a medical, therapy, or diagnostic service. Programs are wellbeing experiences, and LEWIS supports reflection, not diagnosis. When something needs clinical care, Lifed is a companion to that care, never a replacement.

Where to begin

However you are feeling right now, there is a simple next step.

If you want to see what you can actually book, explore programs across wellness, functional movement, and recovery.

If you are an expert or a space that helps people live well, become a Healthmate and be found by the people you can help.

And if you would like the fuller version of where this came from and where it is going, read the Lifed story.

Wellbeing should not have to wait until you break. It should be real, trusted, and within reach, starting today. Live Well. For Real.

Frequently asked questions

What is Lifed? Lifed is a global platform to book and host curated, real-world wellbeing programs, across wellness, functional movement, and recovery. Programs are either residential stays or local sessions and workshops, and every one is co-created with its host and vetted by the Lifed team. Lifed is non-clinical and proactive.

Is Lifed an app? Not really. There is an easy way to browse and book on your phone, but the real value happens in person, in the programs themselves. The app is the doorway, not the destination. Lifed is not an app-first or content product.

What kinds of programs can I book on Lifed? Programs span three areas: wellness (such as Ayurveda, breathwork, sound baths, meditation, and nature immersion), functional movement (such as traditional movement schools, mobility and posture work, and outdoor movement), and recovery (such as digital detox, sleep and rest, burnout recovery, and slow living). Some are residential stays, others are local sessions with no stay.

What is a Healthmate? A Healthmate is an expert or space that hosts programs on Lifed, including centres, practitioners, communities, and organisers. Healthmates are partners, not vendors. Lifed verifies them and co-creates their programs with them, so they stay the expert while the program is shaped to a shared standard.

How do I book a program? You find a program by browsing or searching, choose your dates or slots, and book securely. When you find a program you like, its page shows how it runs, so you simply pick what fits your life.

What is LEWIS? LEWIS is Lifed's optional, non-clinical wellbeing intelligence. It reflects your wellbeing across nine everyday dimensions and helps you find a program that fits. It does not diagnose and is never required to use Lifed.

Is Lifed a medical or therapy service? No. Lifed is non-clinical and proactive. Programs are wellbeing experiences, not treatment, and LEWIS supports reflection, not diagnosis. Lifed works alongside professional care and is never a substitute for it.

How is Lifed different from a wellness app or a directory? A wellness app usually keeps you on a screen, and a directory simply lists what already exists. Lifed does neither. It curates and co-creates real, in-person programs with vetted hosts, and it is built to help you live well before things break, not only after.
